Description
Dancing Cranes. Wardlow. Oil on canvas 16″ x 12″ (406 x 304mm).
Real name, Red-Crowned or Japanese Cranes. This painting is part of our Perceptions series. We took the title of Dancing Cranes and both had a completely different perspective of how this should look. Duncan tapping into his lifelong (and extensive) knowledge of birds and Lesley using her passion for the Japanese healing system of Reiki.
The dance for the Crane is a display of territory, it can also cement decades long pair bonding. Beautiful to watch. You can find out more about this display of behaviour here.
In Japaneses culture the Crane is known as the bird of happiness it also symbolises longevity, fidelity, and peace and is also believed to have healing power. You can find out more about this here.
